piranha tank size?

Would it be possible to keep piranhas in a 120L tank, if so how many? ?

depends on the max size of the specice you decide on for example about 8-12 red bellies should be ok

piranha also need 2X's the flow rate from your filter that you would normaly use i would make an educated guess for 120L that you would need something abouts 1200-1300 LPH(litres per hour)
also try to make sure that your filter has a large foam box to it as there is lots of waste from these fish

make sure you buy them all the same size or you will have a blood bath

other than that i can't help as i have never kept these

You should research them a bit because I think they do get quite big - your 120L (30 gallon) tank could become cramped for even two full grown piranhas. I'm saying this because from what I have read, most grow to at least 8 to 10 inches and probably more. Some of the websites suggest 20 gallons per fish.

very basic care sheet that

try this aimed at red bellies

Red Bellied Piranha | Clinton Critter Care

they only actually tend to get to 10-11 inch not the 12-13 most places on the web make out 5 full grown adults would be fine in a 4FTx12x15 as the height doesnt matter much to them they tend to use the mid to lower layers of the tank but bear in mind these are very messy fish and 5 in that sized tank would make a lot of work i would go for 4

what size is your tank

10-12 tiger barbs would for the most part fill a 120 liter aquarium and you are talking about keeping a fish that can attain 10-12 inches? think about it for a minute and you should realize this is not a good idea

Hey No problem. Here is a link to the Forum Rules. http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/h...m-rules-19683/

For quick reference, since they are not numbered, scroll down to the heading "Signature Policy" and read the paragraph directly above that heading.
We must be careful that the links we provide for other members do not direct them to other Forums. I didn't see one in the Clinton Critter Care site. Maybe I missed it.

We owned Piranha once. I think we started with 4-5 babies and each day we came home to one less until we only had one. It was a long time ago, not sure what we were feeding them. My guess is it was not enough.
