Malaysian Trumpet Snails Hey guys I just recently started the hobby about a year ago and I just rescently swtiched from gravel to sand. Anyways long story short I've been reading up on these Malaysian Trumpet Snails but none of the LFS here carry them. I was wondering if anybody had a few extras to mail out or even better somebody who is located near Bakersfield where we could meet up. I would greatly appreciate any feedback thanks guys. |
Hello and welcome to the forum! MTS are really great snails to have in a tank (IMHO) - but I ran into the same problem as you, unless you order online, none of the brick and mortar shops seem to actually sell them. I gathered quite a decent collection for free by stopping by PetSmart, PetCo, and all of my LFS asking for them whenever I saw them in the tank. In every case, people were more than happy to give them to me for free, as they don't actually sell them - I was doing them a favor by 'cleaning' them up for them! The chain shops had a ton of them in their Apple/Mystery snail tanks, and my LFS had tons of them in their plant tanks . . . (along with Pondsnails - so watch for that). If that doesn't work, you can check our classified section, I often see them for sale there, and Aquabid usually has sellers, too. :) Good luck! |
Hi! MTS are perfect for sand substrates. If your tanks have the extra space, loaches like Kuhlis and Dojos are also great for sands. I know PetsMart often gets them in with their plant orders, they will give you some for free. My local Petco sells them. Those are the only places I get them from. |
Thanks for the help fellas it is greatly appreciated. |
I just read my post: I meant my local PetsMart gets MTS in their plant orders and will give them out for free. Also, Petco sells MTS. |
lol, I understood it perfectly! :) Happy hunting! |
