anyone ever use a nu-clear canister filter?
I am an avid Eheim canister filter user and have a lot of wonderful things to say about them. What I don't like is how much they cost and how expensive the parts are. I have also used Fluval, Rena, and many hob units. I now have two eheims on the back of my 265 and they do the job. I guess I just have the urge to check out new products I have not had and that is why I am asking about the nu-clear which I believe is similar to the ocean-clear. I like the idea of being able to use any pump I like and just utilize their high quality cansiters and elements. Please if you have tried these, let me know how they are.

Would like an answer as well: I was thinking they could be used as a gravel vacuum as well. You wiill need to buy a pump, tubing, and a few other items as well.
I had rena canisters at one point, but I think I do just fine with air driven foam block filters that I got from Angels Plus.

I used one on an agressive tank, using the 25mic filter. It would clear the tank up in minutes, I was using a 1500gph pump on it. You'll need quick disconnects to get the unit off the system so you can clean it, or it gets a bit messy trying to remove the filter for cleaning, if you try getting at it while its attached to the system. For the capabilities of GPH your capable of utilizing, I give it a 10. For ease of use and cleaning, I give it a 3. Model 533.
