3 gal filter in a 5 gal tank?
 

Hello. I'm relatively new to keeping fish (well, at least new to doing a good job at it). One thing that's always been a problem in my tanks is that my fish tend to get sucked up in the filter. So, I thought I might try using a smaller filter to remedy this. However, I do not know if this is safe for the fish, so I would like some input before I buy a new filter.

what are you keeping in the 5 gallon tank?

Before getting a new filter, how about a prefilter sponge over the inlet tube?
