Moving a young Black Ghost knifefish to a larger tank
I'm new to the forum but this is my second Apteronotus. Pegasus is about 3 months old and he's lived now in a 15 gal hex for the last month. He seems happy and thriving so I pulled out the 40 gal and I'm setting it up.
I lost my first BGK 2 years ago when I moved him to the 40 gal without fully cycling it first. I got impatient and it still bothers me. I had him for 7 years. He was a foot long and his favorite pastime was to put the divers helmet over his nose and "DART" around the tank as fast as he could. He even ate from my hand.
I'm glad I found this forum. I haven't yet seen anyone who has a Black Ghost Knifefish, but I've also just started looking.
To the moderators, this is a great looking forum; easy to use and well laid out. Thanks for your efforts.
Welcome to the forum! I love BGK's, but unfortunately do not have adequat space for one.
Have fun here. :)
I have had 2 both ended up unsucsefully...
1 died from fighting my Clown Knife.... (oops my bad)
1 died from running out of live ghost shrimp and he refused to eat anything else.. and starved himself.. got him back then i lost him to ich...
main thing is soft water lots of hiding places fully cycled and placid fish with him.
i have 2 and they have been doing great so far. i would love to see them grow to full size!!
