feeding arowana? What is the best food to feed a silver arowana about 10 inches in size???? |
probably feeder fish, water fleas, mosquito larvae, as well as freeze-dried ocean plankton, krill and pellet foods. |
I had a 16" jardini that ate frozen silver sides. floating carnivore pellets and sticks. That is when he wasn't killing everything else in the tank. He would not pass up the occasional mollie or platy that made it to his lair. |
i feed mine bef heart and prawns, and some large cichlid pellets |
Pellets, sticks, shrimp, cut fish, worms, beef heart, crickets, frogs if you can get them. |
feeding him live food such as crickets, cockroaches, grasshoppers, lizards, earthworms but he doesn't seem to eat non-living (non moving) food... how should i train him to eat the non-living stuff? |
skewer meat on a feeding stick and move it in front of his face |
another way less risky for the fish injuing itself on the skewer is through reptile feeding tongs and moving it around. or even wrigglying it by hand if he isnt afraid of u. |
sorry i wasn't clear but i meant how cn i train him to eat like pellets and stuff??? |
I was reading in TFH Top of the Food Chain column that, once you start getting him on frozen and fresh food, you can start introducing it near the filter outlet so that it gets pushed out into the tank. Once he's taking that, start adding some pellet food when you feed fresh or frozen. He might not take it the first couple times, but once he does, start upping the percentage of pellet to fresh, and eventually change over entirely, leaving fresh food to twice weekly treats or so. |
