Stocking help

Hello everyone. I'm new here, and I've owned fish for years. I've got a question, about my 35 gallon tall tank. Right now it holds:

1 striped Raphael catfish (not sure how to spell it, one catfish is missing)
2 head and tail light tetras (accident)
8 flame tetras

Do you think I could add more flame tetras, if so how many? Thanks.

First off, welcome to Tropical Fish Keeping forum.:-D

Before adding, I would consider removing, or preparing to.

The Raphael catfish can reach 9 inches, though around 6 inches is usual in the aquarium. But even at this, it should have more space, a 4-foot tank minimum, to develop and live properly. It may eat small fish, and being active during darkness will have the advantage when it decides to.

If you like the Head & Tail Light I would increase the group. On their own, two may turn nasty as they mature. This often occurs in shoaling fish that do not have a sufficient-sized group.

Byron.

Thank you. Yes, I made the mistake of listening to the petstore, they said they get 2-3 inches. They are babies now, if they get bigger I probably will return them. I really don't care for the head and tail lights, so I'll probably return them too.

You could easily go to 12 tetras, the more the merrier. Once you drop that catfish you could add something different on the bottom, lots of catfish or small loaches to choose from.

Jeff.
