Need advice on light fitting (clear seal hood)
I've owned an aquarium for a couple of years now and want to upgrade its lighting from just a desk lamp to something a little more visually pleasing with a lighting tube (doesn't have to be florescent). I have this hood:
Consort Hood by Clearseal (Available in Store Only) | Pets at Home,
In 30 inch but it hasn't come with any kind of clips to put the bulb in place, just 2 holes leading into a back compartment which I assume hold the power source.
I question may be simple but it really matters to me, what do I need to buy to ensure I can light my aquarium with bulbs with use of my hood.
Advice would be greatly appreciated! :)
PS - I was eyeing up this power source, if I bought the below would I just beable to fit a bulb into it?
I am not familiar with either produc t linked, so I'll be very general in my suggestions.
From the text I assume the back of the hood opens somehow, intended for a strip light. I would measure the length and width of the opening, then see what you can find in a fluorescent tube strip light that will fit.
Thanks byron. Yeah the back does open :)
I'm guessing I need some sort of power unit to light up the bulb which resides in the back compartment?
Yes definitely. I have been looking for these for my mini tank as I don't really like the 9w regular bulb it has in there at the minute but I can't find one that fits yet. But for a m ore standard size tank they are available as a complete unit in abundance.
Really? Where have you seen them?
See i suppose it comes down to what you want to spend.
this took me around 58n seconds to find.....

BUT it not the right size. I'd presume you could find one like that fairly easily to fit your. I've also got another idea, hang on....
Ok, i need the exact length of your tank please :)
The length is 30 inches, so will need to be a bit shorter than that
