When is a good time to introduce fry into main tanks?
I have a guppy fry along with platy and molly frys. Several of the Guppies have grown significantly larger than the other guppies, platies, and mollies to the point where they could easily damage the others when aggression occurs. However they are small enough to be easily destroyed by the fish in the tank that I intend putting them in.
The guppies are both male 3/4 inch long. They are both have become very aggressive. The issue is that I have an adult male guppy (who thinks he is a mickey mouse platy) that is 2 1/2 inches long and no adult females that have lived. There is an aggessive yellow swordtail adult male, 4 adult platys. The tank size is a ten gallon.
I do intend to upgrading to a larger tank in the next 6 months when the other fry is ready
Aggression with live bearers is really hit and miss. I have kept all of the same fish as you and have had them be fine with every fish and then there are other fish I have had that bullied every fish in the tank, even a BN pleco. Some aggression could be form the lack of females but no one has ever really confirmed this.
I say you will just have to experiment with them and see which ones get along better. At 3/4" they are plenty large enough to put in the adult tank but they may become targets because they are smaller.
