danio breeding question
i recently bought 4 zebra danios (the ones with a steel kinda color running down the sides) and i also have owned 4 for a while.
my question is, after a while when the are introduced to each other (the 4 new zebras are in my tank thats cycling) could they breed and would the colors be way different or just mixed results?
this has been bothering me for a few days.
It's possible that they could breed, yep. In a comminuty tank it's not likely that the fry wil survive if left however. I haven't bred them before but having marbles as a substrate can be good because it then gives the eggs plenty of room to hide and not be eaten by parents.
If they are all zebra danios then all the fry will have zebra danio pattern/colour.
They'd probably all look the same. You're sure you have both sexes? Males are pretty slim, while females look rounder around the belly area (even more so when they've got eggs in there). I think a lot of people have a separate tank that they move the male and female into for spawning with some large smooth stones and some plants and decor and a sponge filter (with very fine mesh), you'll also need a heater The eggs don't stick to anything, they just roll underneath the rocks which is the reason for larger smooth ones and then the parents go back into the main tank. Danio babies are unbelievably small when they first hatch, and they pretty much just cling to the glass or plants their first 36 hours of life.
I didn't intentionally breed mine. Still ended up with one survivor.
i kinda messed up on my first post, i have 4 regular zebras, and 4 golden zebras. in my head i know what i wanna type but my fingers miss a few things once and a while. sorry for the mix up
i just dunno what color or variation they might come out as if they do breed.
Maybe half and half?
thats what i was thinking. if the colors were like a cobalt/gold that would look just freakin AWESOME!
