fish hatchery help!!!!
i have 3 female mollies and one of them is pregnant and looking like she going to burst. and starting to seclude herself from the others. so i know she is going to give birth soon so i put her in the hatchery but she jumps out and gets really distressed and the male molly hangs around her. its a double hatchery so if i put the male in the other side do you think it would calm her??
any one have ideas????
I do not like the plastic breeders, they are too shallow and stress the females out big time. If oyu can find one and insist on using one, get a net breeder. They are fairly large and if you throw in some floating plants it will give her some security and a place for the fry to hide.
Try to to net her anymore though. The stress of it can cause her to abort the whole batch. It happened to me a couple times. Try to gently coax her into the net breeder instaed of netting her.
The best way to have fry survive is to have lots of plants, fake or live for the fry to hide in.
I agree with fish4all. it's best not to use the breeding traps at all, and just to plant your tank so that they fry can hide until they are big enough to survive on their own.
thanks for that. ill buy some extra plants especially the floating ones. ill let you know how my fry go. thats if any survive thanks for your help..
