Blue Mystery Snail?
 

I have a healthy little mystery snail who I believe is a blue, but I'm not sure. Her shell is olive, her body is dark gray/brown with black spots, she has orange stripes on her face, and orange eyes. So is she a blue or something else?

Also, if I got an Ivory male, what kind of babies would they make and how would I care for them?

She actually sounds like a poso/rabbit snail, all mysteries snails that I've seen are a solid color. Can you post pictures?



Mystery snails lay their eggs above water so when you see an egg sac(Its usually pinkish and looks like a raspberry), just scrap it off and keep it in a container that will keep the humidity and wait. You cant submerge the eggs or let them dry out or else they will die.

Not sure on what color babies they would have, Im assuming half and half but I dont know much about snail genetics ^^;

No, not that much orange. Just a dapple on her face. And she has the body and shell of a Mystery Snail.

I can't post pics via my phone, but if you can get to bettafish.com and go in my profile, I have some pics uploaded in my album under "Gus and Friends" I'm sure there is a pic of her in there somewhere. They might be of when I first got her. I didn't notice the orange dappling on her face until recently, so I don't know if it was always there or not.

Oh, and it's not any kind of illness or anything. You just have to be close to see it, but it's very pretty. At a distance, her face just looks dark brown. When you get close, you can see that it is actually dappled!

I was unable to find your pictures on bettafish.com and I dont know much about snails anyway but your snail sounds lovely and I would like to see it if you can post a picture or give further directions on how to find the pics.:-)

Well darn! I have a thread there titled "Need help finding a friend for Gus" or something like that in the compatability forum. Same username. Maybe people have to be a member to see it? I'm not sure. I will see if someone can post a pic for me...

:shock: Not sure how that dp happened! :lol:

Well, while I have a second post, my water is soft, but my pH is good. Can I add some kind of calcium suplament for my snail to my water without messing up my pH?
