Is the difference between Re and Green Tiger Lotus??
Obviously the leave colors are different but what about the shape of the leaves?? Are they different shape between the two??
Here is what I assume is a Green Tiger Lotus
Is this a leaf that is trying to reach the surface? It looks like that to me anyways.
This lotus had much different leaves. They are more rounded and has red splotches.
Is this a Red tiger lotus that doesn't have strong enough lighten?
I know they look more green in the pics but they are a lighter shade and do have some reds in them when looking at them in person.
The green and red forms are the same plant, Nymphaea lotus. However, this is a polymorph species, meaning that it has different forms that populate different habitats. Differences in the leaf, usually in size more than anthing else (aside from the colour variation), is thus to be expected. Some of the variants may turn out to be distinct species.
It naturally forms floating leaves, esp in less light. Continual removing of these may cause lower leaves to be more numerous. See more in our profile.
