Male guppy with a dark spot on sides

I have a 5 gallon tank, and I bought 2 little male guppies on the 2nd of Dec. One died on Wednesday of this past week, so I went back to the store and got a new male guppy in it's place. I let it acclimate for 20 minutes or so before releasing it in the tank. It seemed fine at that time, and the other orange fish is kind of pestering it (with no nipping at the fins or scales, though.)

I noticed on Thursday that there was a dark spot where many people online say the gravid spot is located on female guppies. I also noticed that the spot can get really dark black on both sides of the body, and then tends to fade away later the same day. I'm wondering if it is some sort of 1) disease, 2) coloration issue, or 3) that I got a female guppy by mistake and it's pregnant. I'm hoping it's just coloring. What do you think?

Here's a photo! Sorry it's a little blurred. Believe me, that's the best one I could get. The fish wouldn't stop moving everywhere!!

It could just be coloring depending on the age (how big it is), or it could be a female, which could explain your male bothering it a little bit when you released it. if its a female, it'll definitely be pregnant.
