Coal Slag for my Planted Aquarium I was doing some reading on planted aquariums, and I read that Coal Slag is a substrate often used as the subsrtate. I am really intrigued by this, becuase it is black, and I found a place 8 miles down the road that sales some. Has anyone ever used this, and/or would recommend it. Heres a link of the place that sales the Coal Slag. Coal Slag | Capitol City Lumber Company |
HHmmm.. Ive heard of black beauty being used which is the same thing. Theres a small chance of heavy metal poisoning (from iron), and it might hurt buttomdwellers... It also might raise ph slightly...but try it if you want... If I was about to go that route, Id look for materials like 3m colorquartz first... |
