good $ on a mottled/weskii bichir where can i find a good price on a mottled/weskii bichir and will it go in a 125g with assorted chichlids? |
What is the scientific name of this species of bichir? I've never heard that name before. What species are these cichlids? |
The mottled bichir, Polypterus weeksii, is an West African species whose habitat is much different than that of East African Rift Lake cichlids. The water conditions are totally different, as is the biotope. I think I would hedge away from mixing the two. http://fishbase.sinica.edu.tw/Summar...4&lang=English |
The word "weskii"..I should have scrambled it. Yes, I know that species, Bob.;) |
would 2 senegal bichirs be a better choice? the chichlids are 1 black convict 1 blood parrot and 1 green texas |
I wouldn't mix bichirs with most cichlids in the first place. Bichirs are mellow and wouldn't do well with a territorial fish like a convict or texas. weeksii are awesome bichirs with beautiful patterns and IMO if you can get a hold of some I would remove the cichlids and build it around the bichirs. I do know of a few good sources of bichirs if your decided to go that route. |
honestly i would prefer the bichirs. my mom just got the chichlids while i was away at boarding school and my piranhas died. where can i find weeksii, should a local pet store have them? |
(For my area) I can only find Senegal Bichir's (and i find plenty of them) odds are ull have to search online or contact someone about any other bichir then a senegal |
I feel dumb, too, Lupester. I thought the OP was talking African cichlids. lol |
