Nice to see a Fish Forum
I am pleased to see we have a fish forum available on-line. I am hoping to learn allot here.
I have been keeping fish for nearly four years now with limited success. My most passionate experiment at keeping was converting my medium tank (85 Gal - 18Hx72Lx15D Inches) into a Vivarium with Hermit Crabs & Frogs above and various fish below in a community setting.
While most people are attracted to the large community tank in the front window (140 Gal - 26Hx72Lx24D), I gain some of my greatest pleasures from the small 24 gallon tank which was supposed to be the hospital tank.
Most of the fish I've kept were given to me and the list includes some rather exotic ones at that. I've also been fortunate that none of the tanks I have were purchased. People give me old tanks and equipment from estates or when they themselves were frustrated at failures and all the work involved.
Looking at the equipment they gave me with the tank, I usually come to the same conclusion time and again that the dealer who sold it to them picked the cheapest equipment they could find to maximize their profits while keeping the price to the consumer affordable.
In this forum am hoping to be able to identify some of the more exotic fish that have been given to me, and pass along some of my cost saving equipment innovations to the friends I make here.
Welcome to the FishForum.com community. We are very happy to have you here and look forward to learning more about your experience with fish and your aquariums. If you can, please post photos of your fish and aquariums in the photos section. I, for one, am extremely curious- particularly about your vivarium!
Have a great day and I'll see you in the forums,
