crushed coral and hardness
Hi i wanted to know, is there a rule for adding crushed coral to raise the hardness of your tank. I have a freshwater tank 40 gallons. For example,
"x" amount of teaspoon of crushed coral per "y" amount of gallons/liters = "z" amount of dH increased.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
I don't really quite understand the question. Are you looking for some type of formula? If so, I know of none. Using crsuhed coral as a substrate or adding it to your filters as a media acts as buffer to help maintain higher pH and DH. I have never heard of "dosing" as you are explaining. The effects of using coral as a substrate and its effects would be based upon what your water parameters, in terms of pH and DH were to start with.
