Water Balance
:( I have a 29 gal aquarium. All of my water levels are perfect, w/the exception of my Nitrites. They are off the chart. I have been doing 25 % water changes, twice a week. I put 2 pillows in my filter (chlorine removers). The tank is not over-populated.
2-cory catfish
2-clawed frogs
2-swordtail mollies
1-rosy barb tetra
1-neon tetra
1-zebra danio

I siphon the bottom once a week as well.

Check your tap water and see what the levels are in there.

Also, are you using test strips or a liquid test? Liquid tests are much more accurate and this could be the reason your nitrates are showng so high, as well as the possibilty your tap water has nitrates.

Off topic but I thought it best to warn ya, your clawed frogs are not the same as dwarf frogs and they will eventually get big enough to eat your other fish (and they don't really even have to be that big, you wouldn't believe how fish can fit in their mouths). I would suggest finding a different tank for them before they start chowing down.

Thank you so much for your reply. I didn't give any thought to my tap water, as I treat it 24 hours BEFORE it even goes into the tank. I will most definately check it after work, today. I use the 5-in-1 test strips. I will check into the liquid test, this weekend.
And, off topic, yes, I know all about my darling frogs. My husbands frog is quite large and I put in a tank divider and feed him a feeder guppy, twice a week. The rest of the time, he gets these floaty sticks that he really seems to like. And, yes, I know I'm taking a risk having him in there; but, I have no where else for him to go.
My 10 gal tank is home to 8 baby mollies, at the moment.

As long as you have it divided you should be ok, though the feeder guppies should probably somehow be QT'd since they could potentially introduce something nasty into the tank :(

They love those dried brine shrimps too :)
