hardness and crushed coral
 

Has anyone ever used crushed coral to raise their hardness? If so, is it any good? Also, how much should i put in. And how much will the crushed coral raise my dh? I have a 40 gallon tank. Last, what is the approximate dh of a firemouth cichlid and a discus, can i keep them together? Ho, whoa, wait a minute!!!!! You don't want to raise the pH for discus and firemouths!! You would like to see the pH around 6.6-7.0 as they could, can, and will survive in neutral conditions. I don't measure the dh or Kh of my tanks, pH only. If I need to lower my pH, I will filter over peat or use a softening pillow in my power filters.
