water params, am i ready for a cuc?

ammonia 0
nitrites 0
nitrates 0
pH 7.8
salinity 1.020
temp 76

14g biocube, removed the bioballs and put a little rubble rock in that chamber. also added another small circulation pump. ls/lr added 11/3. more live rock (with coralline from established tank) added 11/11. there's a small diatom bloom right now. am i ready to add a cuc and if so, what would be my best choice? i'm in no big hurry but if i can add something, i might as well, right? :)

cycling with ls/lr is new to me so i wasn't expecting my water quality to be so good. what's up with that? why am i not seeing ammonia, etc.?

thanks!

Live Rock already has the needed bacteria in it to keep your tank from a cycle. Your SG is alittle on the low side for a CUC. Like to see those numbers up around 1.023 at least. Test your Calcium levels, try to keep them above 380 with Inverts.

ok, 4 astrea snails and i did go ahead and get 6 hermit crabs. they are teeny tiny and not very skeery. yet! ;-)

it's fascinating to watch the snails move around on the live rock. they seem to be quite agile going from place to place. i just hope one doesn't fall and land upside down behind the formation i built. that would suck!

They can right themselves, no worries.

i did drip acclimation and took almost 2 hours before i tossed out the water in the bag and put everything into my tank. i notice that 3 of the 4 snails spend most of their time on the glass right up at the top of the water level. is this normal?

Reefing Madness 11-19-2012 09:07 PM

Yea, pretty mcuh normal. They'll just be all over the place, and never where you wnat them to be.
