API GH/KH water tests.
Has anyone used these before and can they fill in the blanks for me. Purely in the interest of getting to know all the water parameters and better understand what is going on in my tank i purchased the API test kits for GH and KH.
KH 3 or 50ppm (Three drops into the test tube)
GH 10 or 180ppm (Ten drops into the test tube)
Have i interpreted this correctly as i am not sure.
Your calculations are correct. Obviously I can't say if the number of drops is accurate, only you know that.;-) But each drop is one dGH or 1 dKH respectively, and you multiply these numbers by 17.9 to obtain the corresponding ppm numbers, as you have done (rounded off).
I find the change from orange to green initially very difficult to detect, but this becomes a bit more obvious after you use the kits for a time.
