20 long planted balloon ram - panda cory - bronz cory - lambchop rasbora I finally got it running right now my priorities are getting some peat balls to lower the Ph from the current state [7.2] to about [6.6] I think that will result in the Balloon ram coloring up. Been looking for some dwarf hairgrass in manhattan or any type of carpet plant even micro swords but I have had a hard time finding any stores. Especially with sandy making it difficult for shipping to get through so I've had no luck, If anyone knows any good plant retailers in nyc please let me know. The plants in the picture are Myrio's and Its been about two weeks they have been growing exceptionally well, The reason I am not trimming them is because I want to see it flower and also I am waiting until I get my hands on some more plants before I organize everything. -Miracle gro organic choice -Red clay -Flourish Comprehensive -API liquid Co2 The balloon ram I'm not too fond of I actually hate the balloon fish I think it's stupid, When I bought it I didn't realize unfortunately. I work at an aquarium shop my boss just ordered them I was so excited about them I didn't take the time to inspect them. It is what it is. I have a fluval 405 and a eheim 2217 the eheim is silent but I prefer the fluval the outakd and intake pipe are the same size flexable hose and way easier to work with fluval makes a 106 that would be good on a 20 |
Great new start! I feel the same way about balloon anything, but at least this little guy will have a good home, and someone to take proper care of him - it isn't HIS fault he's 'broken,' poor little thing. . . I also have a Eheim, it's my only experience with canister filters, but silent it IS. Mine is on my 55g tank, and I got it for under $100 - so I'm sure you'll be able to find a model that's in your price range. Good luck, keep us posted! |
None of my filters are as loud as my air pumps. |
Help with my baloon ram fish I have a 35 gallon planted tank. I have several different types of friendly fish in there. I purchased a baloon ram last weekend and he is doing fine. I purchased a second one yesterday and he seems to be breathing heavily. I am sorry I don't know of another way to explain it. I checked the ph ammonia and nitrite levels in the tank and all are fine. the ph was 7.4. The odd thing is that the other angel ram is doing well. Does anyone know what could be wrong if anything? Please help I don't want to lose this one. They are such beautiful fish. |

Mine did the same thing the first day I put him in the tank, After that it was doing fine. I think it's the problem with the Ph or a common problem with Balloon fish. |
Thanks Doki, I think I probably purchased a sick ram. He ended up dying. Very odd. As I mentioned, I have one in there that is doing fine along with two other german rams. I think he may have been sick when I bought him. Ugh. I think the next time I purchase a fish I am going to be sure he is fine before I buy him. He was the last one in the tank along with other Angel fish. Thanks for you feed back! |
