Old New Guy Hello my name is Jim i live in Baltimore Md. I'm 66 years old i have Emphysema and cannot do to much anymore. I had my son & wife help me set up 38 gall tank we got at pet co to give me something to do. Had tanks years ago all you had to do is put fish in the next day not wait 2 months just don't understand that one. Maybe someone can help with answer. Thanks Jim |
hello and warm welcome :-D i wonder if things have changed so much due to weaker strains of fish perhaps ? and more chemicals in the water ? |

Jim - Darn glad to have you!.... What are ya going to be keeping in the 38 gallon? Get your family to take you down to House of Tropical in Glen Burnie, really great fish shop where you can spend all yuor $$$$ :) Tracy |
:-D Hi Jim! Welcome! |
Hi Tracy thanks for your reply. I go down to the house of tropicals all time do you live in the area. I live in Catonsville Md. Don't know to much about fish but trying. I have 8 neon's 3 cardinals 8 white clouds 5 rummy nose 2 panda cats. Is that to many in a 38 gallon. Someone said take out white clouds they are cold water fish what do you think. I see people with all kinds of fish in one tank. I don't know any larger fish to keep with my small fish with out any trouble. Talk to you later. Jim |
Welcome Jim! This site has excellent fish profiles which will tell you the temperature of water a fish needs, how large an aquarium is needed to house it, which other fish it may get along with, etc. If you ever see a fish name highlited, like white cloud mountain minnow, you can click it to go to the profile. Otherwise, you can search for the fish with the Tropical Fish Profiles tab above. Looking forward to seeing some pics of your set up! Enjoy your tank! |

Jim, I REALLY like your stock, you have some great vairety and a 38 is perfect in my opinion - manageable yet large enough to have some different species. You may want to add a couple more cories, I believe they do best in groups of at least four. As far as a larger centerpiece fish: you might consider a Male Apistogramma Cacatuoides aka Cockatoo Cichlid. They are a small cichlid that are amazingly beautiful and would be an ideal addition in my opinion and they do sell them at HOT from time to time..... I probably would not add a pair, if they spawn which is likely you could have a lot of turmoil in the tank. Again, your tank sounds truly awesome, I'd love to see some images. |
Hello and welcome to the forum! :-D |
