I love your posts, you are a very knowledgeable fishkeeper and post in a clear, concise and easy to understand manner.
But man your avatar is without a doubt the saddest clown I have ever seen. :-(:-(:-(
I get bummed everytime I look at it.
I'm gonna start hiding it with my hand cause I'm not going to stop reading your posts!
It is a pretty sad looking clown!

hmmm i'm going to have to go have a look now....
Agree it creeps me....I think my mother had an old oil painting of the same clown, Emmet I believe was his name "Abbeys dad "' doesnt seem sad or creepy :-D
That is a photo of world famous hobo clown "Weary Willy", Emmitt Kelly and Emmitt Kelly Jr. of Wringling Brothers Barnum and Baily circus.
One of the best bits was that he would coax a young boy in the audience to share some popcorn. Emmitt would take the box, extract a single piece of popcorn, display it to the audience with marvel and great reverence. Then he would give the boy the single piece of popcorn and walk off with the box as the crowd roared. (of course he returned the box of popcorn to the boy).
I am a great fan.... and I like the irony of a sad clown, much like how many of us may seem very happy to others, but may not be.
btw, thank-you Tracy for the compliment :-)
Clowns are scary to me lol. I have always been afraid of them
Having 'said' that, almost every scary haunted house like attraction will undoubtedly have one or more menacing clowns because of the mass phobia there seems to be.
Okay, so by popular demand...or a limited number of 'meat heads', I changed my avatar to another (in)famous father.
Now stifle yourself Edith!
(But scary Emmitt may be back!)
I knew the clown picture was of emmitt kelly jr as weary willy... itís the kodak picture. a little known fact is that emmitt jr was estranged from his father the original weary willy. Emmitt Kelly jr circus was one of the few circus that played the whithouse two times in the early seventies. Emmitt Kelly jr passed away about six or so years ago. Emmitt Kelly III wanted to become weary willy but a bit of bad luck happened and he was not able to achieve becoming weary willy. I am lucky I saw emmitt kelly sr. as weary willy in the early 50ís and emmitt Kelly jr as weary willy in the late 60ís and 70ís.
I guess this points to the number of days I have been around.
