Could I please have your advise on this?
Hi, I am looking to buy a new air pump for my fish, I have a cheap one right now and all it does is Buzz :(
I cannot decide which to buy, it needs to be quiet if possible I have seen these pumps Hydor Ario 3 Aquarium Fish Tank Air Pump.
Have any of you used one? are they any good? please answer as my fiance wants to buy me one for my birthday and I have to decide quick! xxx
Are you using the air pump to power an undergravel filter? Why not change to a quieter powerhead? The Marineland 550 is about the same price as a good air pump and much more efficient.
Sorry I should have said, no it isnt being used to power a filter just as a air pump with a stone, I have seen interpet's Airvolution pumps meant to be quiet anyone used one of those? it is really hard to know what to go for when the last pump I brought was meant to be silent and it isnt!!
Whisper makes a pretty quiet one, especially when new. Just make sure to gte one that is the size you need. Too big and the excess power can make it too loud. Too small and it won't work right. Also, don't be afraid to spend $12-25 on a quiet one. Anything cheaper will likely not be very quiet.
When my air pumps start getting noisy I just rebuild them. It doesn't take but a few minutes and a few dollars. I have always been able to rebuild my Whisper pumps.
