LED lighting?

My Arcadia lighting system has gone pop and I need to replace it. What is the general opinion on LED lighting? My tank is a 200 litre bow front tropical set up which measures 1 metre long and I am thinking of putting 84 led's on a strip along the top to light the tank.

It contains 1 crown tail beta and 15 tetra's and has a few live plants but mainly plastic ones.

LEDs work fine for general lighting, just don't use any 'night time light' feature as fish need total darkness at night like they get in nature (they are under trees, not out in the open under the moon).

For live plants, the LEDs would have to be a daylight color spectrum (~6500K) and have enough intensity.

The power difference is pretty minimal.
