Finally, made the switch from internal to external filtration

I have ordered my Tetra Tec ex700 today. I am very much looking forward to having this as part of my tank. I am hoping it will;

  • Cut down on the need for an airstone due to the splash bar
  • Clear the water even further than it already is
  • become a more efficient method of filtration change

Does anyone have any information that I should be aware of at this point, all that I have spoken to have been very positive. All I would like to know is if there are any positives or negatives of external filtration.

Thank you

PCP

There is really no difference between internal or external. All power filters behave the same, they have a motor that forces water through filter media.

The only differences really between filters are the media (size and type), flow rates, and reliability.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that brand, as in the US we have completely different ones. I googled it, and as a canister it will give you more flexibility in your media selection which can certainly help. It looks similar to the Marineland filters here in the US.

Aside from this, always love the homage to Final Fantasy in the avatar.
