Bristlenose disappeared
 

I have not seen my new 1 inch Bristlenose since the day I introduced him to the tank. Is this normal? It has been 3 days. Should I assume he is eating during the night and going back into hiding by morning? :-(

keep watching, if you can, move things around a little, see if you see him. they do like to hide though

Wait until an hour after lights out and slowly check the tank with a flashlight. Chances are he will be there, I have 3 in my 75g tank, hardly ever see them at all during the day.

Yeah, I have tried that with no luck.....there are a lot of hiding spots in the tank unfortunately. I have also hoped I would catch him first thing in the morning before the lights go on...still haven't seen him.

He is probably still recovering from the stress of the "move." They are nocturnal by nature. I myself wouldn't go pulling things up to find him; let him settle quietly. But do drop in some algae/kelp based sinking foods well after total darkness.

I have a Golden Chinese Algea Eater I have seen once in 3 months. And I only know he is still alive because I stuck the airstone in all the hiding places and finally seen some gold movement in the big ornament in the middle of the tank. He's still alive but don't know how. I personally don't like nocturnal fish but he must be doing his job because my tank is clean....LOL

Should I be feeding the algae wafers even though there is algae for him to munch on in the tank?

yeah i would be supplementing him.

I haven't seen my BN in about a week, I usually see her lurking under the big driftwood but haven't found her there lately either. She's still in there though, somewhere. They are fantastic hiders so you'll see your's eventually. Just give it time :)

I had one that I hardly ever saw. I only saw him if I wend searching the tank for him with a flashlight. Sadly he dissapeared. (suspect he died and the other fish munched on him.) I know have one who is wonderful. Though he's kind of weird because when the lights come on he starts swimming around and munching on algae and stuff. He also seems to sleep when the lights are off.
