How to remove feather duster from wall

One of my feather dusters at work has attached his tube to the wall of his tank. I know they do this all the time and am not concerned by it, but what I am concerned about is how to safely remove him from the wall if someone wants to buy him. Can I gently slide a razor blade between his tube and the glass without hurting him?

Yup, razor blade is the trick. The worm lives in the tube, but he's not as big as the tube.
