new firemouth tank mates (paradise fish?)
Hi all i have recently purchased and on setting up a 190 litre tank,
I want a firemouth cichlid but was thinking of tank-mates for him/her,
has anyone ever kept paradise fish with a firemouth? Also any other recomendations i would quite like an active tank but dont want to endanger any fish,
setup will have black sand or gravel base (on sourcing tommorow) with rocks and some plants.
also was thinking of 2 thai crabs for the tank ive read abit on them dont see a huge issue with them.
its been a while since i kept a tank and was mainly fish like tetras (all small fish) so any advice would be appreciated.
First, welcome to Tropical Fish Keeping forum.
Second, we have fish and plant profiles, second tab from the left in the blue bar across the top of the page. If the name is used the same in posts as in the profile, scientific or common, it will shade and you can click it as a link to the profile. Example, Firemouth Cichlid.
In the profile you will find some suggestions for numbers, tankmates, etc. The Paradise Fish is also there, and it mentions the dangers with this fish. Although I have never kept them together, I would suggest this is not wise. The Firemouth, though a cichlid with some temper, is also quite a shy retiring fish, and would likely be the loser.
