I have a molly, I believe she is a dalmation molly who I am almost positive is pregnant. I can't seem to get my camera to take pics of my fish, its new and I am getting used to the settings... anyway, I went to bed last night and she just looked fat, well this morning in the bottom of the tank there are these whitish spots looks kinda like algea but white, some solid spots in it... what is this? Is she still going to have live babies? There is a spot near her back fin that is redish now, it didn't used to be... anyway, excuse me if you have answered these before... I am new... Hmmm, I know there are more questions I had, I turned off the filter. I only have the 'mommy' and one other fish in there, do I need to get a seperate tank to move them to?
As for your camera, I have no answers. Evry one is differentand you'll just have to experiment until you get the hang of it.
The "spots"on the bottom of your tank are probably fry. You will need to prvide some cover for them. Java moss would be a choice. Another tank would be nice(and a good excuse to get another tank. lol).
I dunno about the white spots but the camera settings if you want good pics for us to be able to for sure what we tell you. Set the camera to macro and the motion setting and take away. try not to get too much glare on the glass!!! :)
I only have one fish in this one, that is her reflection
same thing, both fish
BOth are babies from one of my other mollies that died... these are my only two fish who remain... every other fish I get dies (I think its the walmart fish, and have yet to get to another fish store) anyway I can't get pics of the whiteish stuff... she is still 'leaking' out some stringy stuff... I am just confused. How long does it usually take? And can anyone tell me if these are dalmation mollies or what?
I really appericiate the replys so far...
also anyone know why her back end (her butt area  ) would be red? From what i have read it get darker, but redish? Is that normal? :?:
Yes those are deffinately Dalmation Mollys... Any Molly who has a black white spots is Dalmation Molly. I have also never heard of the stringy white stuff. Do you think it maybe could be undeveloped eggs? Anyway they are deffinately pregnant. Try a water change (about 15%) and what is the temp? (sorry if you already said) I made my water 80 degrees F and that seemed to help alot and good water quality was a good thing also. The females wont drop either if they dont feel safe.
Oh crap!!!!!!!! and keep the filter on!!!!!!!!! (Not Angry just startled) Anyways i didnt mention the red spot by her fin.It could just be a sign of stress. All fish are different. If one turns red at the rear and others dont then it is just a personal way of showing stress. Just like my airplanes. just because i've flown C-172's before doesnt mean the next one i fly will be exactly the same. (Yes airplanes have personalaties too!! ) But i've only been in this hobby for 3 years (since i was 12) and i was hooked since then. I have never seen a molly turn red at the butt (lol) but my other fish have severely lost color when they were stressed
my guppy had the same thing wrong as your mollie but it died i asked the pet store and they said she got too stressed as she had nowhere to have her babys maby you should put her in another tank, or a breeding net or maby put more plants in.
Ya i actually just got back from petsmart and i was thinking of you. They have seen the same thing Put more plants in...... alot!! Hornwort is cheap and provides great cover.
Ok, I am off to the store to get plants then. Artificial ones are ok right? And the temp is only 74, I have never had a heater, so I guess I will get one of those too... how much do I raise the temp and how often?
And the filter is back on now, put some pantyhose on the end of the tube....
