What do you guys use to cut your plants? Cause my scissors are really crappy! I tried using my nail, but i usially end up doing more damage than anything. Is there something i can do to a new pair of scissors that will allow me to keep using them? |
What plants are you cutting that dull your scissors that much? I use chrome-plated scissors (typically used to cut hair) and they work really well. At all costs avoid cutting around the roots and in the actual gravel/sand. That will certainly dull scissors. Rumford Aquatics sells some nice plant pruning tools for small tanks, but scissors work well for me, I don't mind getting my arm wet! |

Thanks guys! I dont have a problem touching the water, im always in my tank! Though tools might be a nice idea. The plants i cut are floating watersprite. They propagate from thier leaves, so if theres too many babies, the original leaves tend to die. And since my tanks are FULL of water sprite, i need to prune a tank a day to keep the brown leaves out. Its not that the plants dull my scissors, the water makes them rusty. I try to dry them off as much as possible, but it still happens! Would a pair of chrome plated ones not rust? how expensive are they? |
