Floramax bulbs better than the full spedtrum bulbs? They say for plant growth and they do cast a different light(not bad though).

Personally, I think you'll have better results with just the "Daylight"or full spectrum bulbs. The Floramax is biased toward the red end of the spectrum, that's why the light's strange. It will work just fine for plants, but the Daylight bulb will probably give you more actual light output into the tank.

I agree. The intensity of all of the so-called plant or aquarium tubes that I have tried has been significantly less--up to half--of the "daylight" tubes. Plus you have that purplish hue that distorts the colours of plants and fish and everything else.
