Help With Stocking and Ratio
Hello all. I have a 60 gallon long tank set up as an African Cichlid tank. I have a few that I know, one yellow lab, one red zebra, one acei, one johanni, one jewel, one blue with vertical stripes, one just like him with yellow and blue. Along with a striped Raphael catfish, one medium sized mystery snail and a blue crayfish who we just got today. All the fish are between 2" and 3" with the exception if the yellow lab who is about 1.5". The crayfish is about 4" and settling in nicely. There is also one female feeder guppy that has survived about 3 weeks in there lol. I just wanted to know what you guys think about it. I have normal gravel substrate, several big rocks and caves, smaller caves, a log and 4 flower pots. Thanks for any and all comments!!
First of all, you have quite a mix of fish there for a 60g tank. Some of them by the description without giving pictures are very aggressive.
Snails and crayfish are not the best mix for african cichlids as they can and will eat them, if not they will sample them causing them severe injury.
Feeder guppies are an absolute NO for african cichlids, remove that otherwise you are asking for trouble. They will never see a guppy in the wild and as such it will cause severe health issues if they eat them. Feeder fish are also notorious for bringing diseases into tanks and should also not be used for this purpose.
The catfish will also need to be monitored as well, as it can cause injury to cichlids with its sharp dorsal fins not to mention, it will also try and eat anything small enough to fit into their mouths.
Can you post pictures of your fish so we can help identify them and work out and potential issues?
I would post pictures but I don't know how. I do know that even the johanni gets along with everyone, they have pairs that they hang out in, it's kinda cute lol. I'll take the guppy out when I get home tonight, thanks. And as far as the catfish, he's about the same size as the cichlids at the moment and even at night I rarely see him doing more than hanging out on his favorite decoration or in a flower pot. I really just put the snail in there for a clean up crew since I didn't have a Pleco or anything. And who would do the munching, the fish to the snail??

Also, I have a breeding tank split up between 8 Cherry Shrimp and a pair of plattys, can I fee their fry to the cichlids? I think the only reason they haven't messed with the guppy is because their mouths aren't big enought. ( all my fish are between 2 and 3 inches)
