I finally changed my 25 G to sand substrate :)
 

Well I bit the bullet today and changed my main tank(25 gallon) to a sand substrate, only took 4 hrs! And I also re-did the aquascape, I tryed to do things better so the fish have more swimming room:-). I kept the filter running with tank water in a 5 gallon pale,that is now back in the tank and have some of the old gravel in a "breeding net" at the back of the tank. Hope this is enough to keep the tank from cycling again? Water is still a bit foggy even after rinsing the sand for an hour? I'll post Pic. tomorrow:cheers: !

My water was cloudy for about 2 days after I switched my 75G to sand. It shouldn't stay cloudy long if you washed it really well :)

As long as you kept some of the old aquarium water and filter media and the decoration (given you kept those wet instead of letting them dry) then you should be fine on the cycle.

Ya I kept everything in the tank water in a 50 L tub:-).

Well here it is, sure glad I changed to sand! It looks so much more natural, I'am surprised it cleared up so fast:-)! That thing in the back top is just an old breeding net with old gravel from the change over in it, Anyone know how long I should keep it in there?

I only kept mine in there for a couple of days.

The aquarium looks great with the new sand, what type of sand is that? Regular play sand?

This looks great! I changed my 55 gallon from gravel to sand a month or 2 ago and I love it, my fish love it and it was super easy.

As per your question about how long to keep your old breeding net in with old gravel...I kept 2 pouches of gravel in nylons on either side of my tank for about a week before taking them out. Had no problems with the tank recycling or anything.
