I'm looking to buy a shoal of these guys, they just sound so awesome, and they're supposed to be a little more hardy than the C. Adolfi. Does anyone have any of these guys? Have you bred them? I haven't seen them anywhere for sale, and I can't seem to find them online either.
Any tips are appreciated! Thansks!
I have been looking, although half heartedly, for them also. I research all my fish before buying them. This species is rather new to the scene, being discovered in 1995. This should be ample time for breeders to build up the supply. I have found that due to huge success of the adolphoi, few major breeders have taken them in. You may want to check out http://www.planetcatfish.com . Coryologist belongs to that forum. It is devoted to catfish for the most part.
I've heard that they're extremely easy to breed (who thought?), so if I find some, and they do breed, I'll be sure to hook you up!
Greeting. About C. duplicareus being easy to breed - "easy" is a very relative term. :D Yes, it is reasonably easy to get them to lay eggs, harder to get fertilized eggs, harder still to get them to hatch and even harder to get them to live the first week.
I have gotten better at getting them to survive - but I would never call them an easy Cory to breed.
That being said, I will be listing some auctions for spawning groups, "proven" spawning groups, young adults and juveniles on Aquabid, Saturday evening for the special SNE one-hour auctions that start at 8 PM EST.
P.S. The fish are stunning - if I do say so myself. lol.
Thanks for responding, coryologist! Unfortunately, I won't be able to get them for a month or so, as my larger tank is just being set up. However, I would LOVE to buy corys from you at some point, as I'm sure they will be of the highest quality. Do you sell these guys often?
