New to neon tetras help please!
I have a 10g, planted tank, I have a betta in 1/3 of it, and left the other side for 5 neon tetras I got, and another betta. I put the tetras in last night, and all seemed fine, Schooling etc., then tonight I noticed one staying away from the others, so I went to get a net and when I got back he was dead. I have since removed the other four..I had gone to the lfs to get another 5th, and realized he is much brighter in color than the four. Are the four that are left sick? Could it just have been stress? I don't know what to do now, and I have a betta in a cup, waiting for his new home..please help! I will return these neons if I have to, but I don't want to jump the gun. I lost two betta fish this week, and don't need any disease in this clean tank!
What are your water perimeters? Is the tank cycled? How long has it been set up? Any info ypu can give us would help.
From what I've read, 2/3 of a ten gallon is a bit small for a school of neons (people with experience with this species, please correct me if I'm wrong).
It just strikes me as off that you've lost two betta as well this week.

It could be that they were sick to begin with. Not something you did or didn't do.
