Temperature and measurements
Does the temperature impact on the parameters measurement ?
all the week I've dealing with high nitrites levels. I made daily water changes for 7 days; the last two were from 60%, all the week I saw the same result 5 ppm, however, today I saw a drastical change from 5 ppm to 0.5 ppm. the only thing has changed; besides the water (obvious) has been the temp. from 77°F to 80°F.
Could this factor make a difference in the measurements?
No, I don't think 3 deg F is going to change test results. I think there are two factors here; 1) at some point the bacteria kicks in and like ammonia, nitrite becomes so low it is no longer measurable; and 2) slightly higher temperatures promote an increase in bacteria proliferation (think of cold food as it warms to room temperature).
I really hope so, it was not easy, I think it was easier to reach out the 5 ppm of nitrites than bring them down, well, things can't be that bad, I have a fry !, and I've seen the mollies doing something that looks pretty much like the mating, could be interesting, some are blacks and others silver LOL!
