Beginning fish less cycle, one quick question!

I'm about to start cycling my 20 gallon tank. I finally
Got the Eco complete and black Tahiti sand in and all my
Bells and whistles connected over the weekend. And on my weekly grocery store run I forgot shrimp! Considering the fact the grocery store is 20 minutes away, the opposite of work, can i just cut up a peice of frozen salmon into maybe a 1x1 inch square and put it in a micro bag? I know it's a dumb question... But I didn't I know if there was an actual reason people choose shrimp, other than the size

I think a small piece of fish will do the trick. Put it in a mesh bag, and you'll be good to go. Good luck! Fishless cycle is the way to go :) Some people just "feed" the tank with fish food.

Yeah, I used a small sardine-type fish from the grocery, in a mesh bag. It will reek after a bit though, be warned lol

Well I know it will smell but I leave in a week fr 3 weeks which is why I'm using this method.. I don't have to mess with it
So I Dont waste three weeks and have to come back and start day one. So I am going to let it sit all week then add maybe one more small price and when I come back it'll be in week 4 and I can do a small water change and see where im at cycle wise! So I wot have to smell it until I come home, which I am sure will be horrid
