Quiet Filter

I need to buy a new filter for my newly obtained 30G tank. The one that came with the tank turns out to be pretty loud; probabl from calcium build-up for just being old. I need a filter that is pretty quiet, as this tank is in my bedroom. What do you suggest? I was thiking about the Emperor 280 or Penguin 150. I would like to spend under $50, but going over is fine. It just has to be quiet.

Does anyone have anythoughts on the Emperor Filter and Penguin Filters? Are they quiet at all?

I have a myriad of powerfilters. The Emperor 400 and 280, th Penguin 350, 210 and 170 for the higher capacity filters. I love all of them. They will get a little rattle if you don't take care of them, so regular maintainance is important.

i don't know about the larger versions but the aquaclear 30 that i have is very quiet if i keep the water level up. you really have to listen for it to hear it. perhaps the larger versions are the same way. the only time i hear a noise from it is when i change the water and the level goes down.

I ended up buying the Penguin 150, and it is working great. Very quiet and clean. :)
