What fish ?
Help there, I'm very new to tropical fish keeping and I have only just started out. I have brought a relatively small tank to start out but would really appreciate. Some help and advice on what fish would look good in the tank. I would like to have some colourful fish - not too concerned what but a range of fish that would compliment the community and range top middle and bottom of the tank. Would any one please offer me suggestions , and quantities. I have a 70 litre tank at the moment 60cm by 30com by 30cm
I need to get to grips with cycling also and I am thinking of doing a fish less cycle - any advice would be great.
Thanks for your help, I would really appreciate any suggestions and advice.
Search the site for the following thread "fishless cycle or non fishless?". The fouth post down by user Byron gives really detailed information about cycling new tanks. I found it very helpful, and I hope you will, too.
I'm sorry I can't help with the first question. I'm in the same boat. But then again, it's a lot of fun to just browse the pet store, write down names of fish you like the looks of and do some research online. There is a lot of info out there. Personally, I find that process very rewarding. Good luck!
Personally I'd go with a school of like guppies and a school of say neon tetras. you can find guppies in some amazingly pretty colors. (personally my favorite is the cobra or snakeskin ones) just make sure not to get females unless you want a ton of guppies.
Thanks - I'm gonna take your advice and go with bro tetras to start - probably get about 8 as I have read try like to be I a group. Cheers for your help.

Lee1974, welcome to Tropical Fish Keeping forum.:-D
As you are new, may I point out our fish and plant profiles section, second tab from the left in the blue bar across the top of the page. Each fish profile has info on minimum tank size, minimum number of fish for shoaling fish that must be in a group, water parameter requirements, and other data.
Having live plants will all but eliminate the initial cycle, plus the fish being mentioned are best with plants around them. You might get ideas in our Aquarium Plants section of the forum.
A 70 liter is a 20 gallon tank (for those of us who "think" better in Imperial rather than metric:lol:) so you could have a nice interesting community with small fish and plants. No mention is made of your tap water parameters, so just be aware that some fish have more specific needs than others. This is mentioned in the profile for each species.
