Good Betta Tankmates
Hi, I am planning to get a betta in a 20 gallon tall tank and would like to know some fish that would be good tankmates for bettas that won't harass it or get harassed by it, requires the same water parimeters, and is very easy-easy to take care of. Thanks.
I've heard that substrate fish do best with betta, but it all depends on your betta's personality. Some will tolerate other fish in the tank, and others won't. You have to be prepared to remove the betta from the situation if you notice any aggression.
As for fish to try, cories and bristlenose catfish would be best in your tank. Bronze cories and panda cories are some of the more hardy species, but they do need an established tank. Loaches are neat, but they need a larger tank.
I'd definitely recommend a shoal of cories or a single bristlenose pleco. All of my bettas left them alone, unless the pleco and the bettas were going at the same food xD
With my betta I have 11 cherry barbs, 1 peacock eel, 2 SA bumblebee catfish, 1 rainbow shark, and a rubberlip pleco
your tank is probably quite a bit bigger than 20 gallons then right Tigris?
Depending upon the betta's temperament harlequin rasboras can also be a good option, get a shoal though. That's what my betta has as his tank-mates and they've been getting along fine.
