Questions about my new Pleco!
 

I bought a pleco today. Not sure what kind, however. He's supposed to get up to 18 inches. He's black like the common ones. I was just wondering how fast he is going to grow. I have some African cichlids that will soon be in my new 60 gallon tank, and I want to put the pleco in there when he big enough to hold his own.

You did not say how big it is now. But asuming it is 2-3 inches now it should be fine with your Africans. They do not bother other spices so much. They may check it out but I think he is good to go.

He's small, maybe an inch and a half or two. I have him with a Dalmation Molly and Cherry Barb. He's on algae patrol currently lol. How quickly will he grow though?

If it is a larger type it should grow a couple inches a year. Feed him algae wafers too.

i remember when my bristlenose was that little...he's already like 4 inches long!

I did get him some wafers, is it cruel to wait a couple days to feed him one though? He's been moving all over the tank walls in just the few hours that I've had him. An really? The only grow a couple inches a year?? Wow.
