How to breed brigatte rasboras
ive just purchased 15 brigatte rasboras in would really like to know how to breed them if anybody knows anything please reply
The "Mosquito rasbora" is a very, very small fish. Less than 1" long if my memory serves me correctly. It should be fed live foods, as that is its normal course in the wild. going back though some of my breeding notes, I found that I fed my breeders freeze dried tubifex, daphnia, bloodworms, and mysis shrimp. Frozen foods included daphnia, bloodworms, and brine shimp. Live foods were brineys, white worms, daphnia, and mosquito larvea, which grew in my outside daphnia culture. These foods are a must in order to keep these fish healthy and in breeding trim.
Water conditions were a tad to the soft side with a pH of 6.8. Water temp was 82 degrees Fahrenheit. I used marbles as a substrate, air driven billi filters for filtration. There was also java moss and rather heavy use of elodea in the 20b breeder tank. Breeding was done in pairs usually, but on occasion they bred in by "spraying" the eggs in schooling fashion.
I remember these fish as being very colorful and very small. The fry were fed infusoria until large enough to accept brineys.
