Mysterious Snail Deaths

Hello everyone,

I kept a Mystery Snail for about a year. I recently decided to change from a gravel substrate to Flourite Black Sand because it would be better for my plants.
Here is a link to the product:
Seachem. Flourite Black Sand

I remodeled my tank using the sand, and decided to try a bit of sea chem PH regulator. Here's the link to that: Seachem. Neutral Regulator

Shortly after the remodel, my snail suddenly died. I bought another mystery snail, which died shortly after too! I've never had issues raising mystery snails before! Could it be that one of these products killed my snails? I noticed that the flourite sand has a very small amount of copper in it. My betta has been happy and healthy. He recently built the largest bubble nest I've ever seen!

Copper seems to be a common ingredient in snail killing compounds. Also, is the new substrate sharper than the old ? That's a method used to control snails and slugs in gardens.
