help with protein skimmer
 

I just bought a Marine Land Sea clone 100for my 55 gallon aquarium. It was working fine but a few hours later the water flow stopped flowing, I see the water in the J tube but it just stays there. I uninstalled and reinstalled it but no luck.. Any suggestions ? Is this a defect? Or am i Missing something? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated

Your pump failed? Take the pump off the unit, stick it in water and plug it in, does it blow out water?

yes it does

it doesnt seem to be pushing water up the j ,,,

Have you taken apart the pump? Anything stuck on the impellar? How far into the tank is the pump? Should be right along the surface.

Thank you everyone, I ended up returning it and bought a Corallife 65G super skimmer.. So far seems great but The cup is overflowing so I installed the drain tube. My question now is where do I drain it into? I have going into the bubble diffuser now.

You can use a plastic container to drain the waste into, something with a hole big enough to collect a fair amount of junk coming from the skimmer and not likely to overflow.

Skimmer being new is likely breaking in and will settle in a few days.

thanks! its a alot of water now, with bubbles as soon as I plus it up it starts to fill up fast! Ill wait a few days and see if it all settles down..

Should clean a new skimmer in vinegar and water to remove the resin on the acrylic. Next, do you have it dialed all the way down? You should have it dialed all the way down to get just a foam in the lower portion of the neck.
