Vampire tetra not eating
I recently got a sabertooth tetra about 3 or 4 days ago and he has not eaten yet. Im a little worried because he was 25 bills. I have feeder guppies in there that he would definately be able to eat. Id say hes about 2 or 2 and a half inches. I just did a water change today because i read bad water conditions can cause a fish to not eat. Also it looks like he is breathing through his mouth or something and his body does like a little twich. I think that i seen another one doing that so i think it is normal but not sure. Any ideas whats wrong?
Fish, and every other animal besides humans, do not eat when they are stressed. While its true that poor water quality would cause such stress, being a new fish in a new tank is a large source of stress. It takes fish time to adjust. Some will eat immediately, while others take days. I would not worry yet.
