Carbon in planted tanks?

Im sure it has been asked a thousand times, but is carbon ok in planted aquariums. Its a small tank, 14 gallons is what I decided upon. I was going to dose with flourish and flourish excel. I would like to keep the carbon in the filter, as it is difficult to take it out of the small filters, normally its kept within the mechanical floss bag. Thank you!

You can leave it in and use it but it tends to remove micros nutritents and some macro nutrients. In about 3-5 weeks it is inert though and won't matter unless you replace it.

I have never gotten good growth when I had active carbon in the filter.
