Play Sand Switch So Far
It's been a week since I switched my 10 Gallon tank from gravel to Quikrete Play Sand. I love the appearance; however, I don't think my corys do. It seems like it is too bright for their liking. They hide under plants or in the corners and only come out when the light is off and the tank has dawn or dusk brightness. My lighting is not at all intense and, while it might be wishful thinking, it seems like the plants are already doing better. I don't regret making the change overall. The corys seem to like the texture when they come out. Just passing this on as input.

The change will probably take some getting use to for them, but I would just watch them for a few days to find out. I absolutely love playsand, looks so natural.

If you are going for a sand box theme. JK

The corys seem to be tolerating the brightness a little better. Additionally, I am convinced that the plants really are doing better. Sags, vals, and crypts have all put out new leaves already. Play sand will be my substrate for all new setups.

I hope it works

I love sand! I wish I went with play sand.. I got pool filter sand and it's so bright! My cories play around in it though. I've been doing my dardest to cover a majority of the substrate with some sort of plants though, which will dim the brightness of the PFS anyways.
